Established in 1990 by the Papas Brothers, the Parkside Diner is a popular staple in Irondequoit known for its extensive breakfast options and classic American and Greek specialties. The restaurant features a comfortable outdoor seating area where patrons can enjoy their meals in the summer and sits right next to Whispering Pines Mini Golf, which is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places as the oldest miniature golf course in the United States.
When the Papas announced their retirement Van Zissis purchases the diner and kept it's nostalgic feel but brought some exciting changes as well, like adding a dinner menu. Check out our Q&A with Van:

How many years has the company been in business? How long have you owned the business? 30 years in business. Bought the Parkside in May of '25.
What made you choose to purchase this staple Irondequoit business? Knew prior owners for years and always knew what a great business it was. (Sidenote: Parkside was actually his first job!)
What do you love most about owning a business in the Sea Breeze area? The history surrounding the area and business.

How many employees does your business employ? Are any local Irondequoit natives? 30 plus employees and some do live in the town.
What do you want potential customers to know about Parkside? We are keeping the same quality and recipes and always trying to improve the customer experience.
Is there community service your business been involved in or organizations you support you would like to tell the community about? We try and help any local organizations, schools, churches, charities, etc.
Are there any special events you are hosting you wish to tell our community about? We are serving the dinner for the J. Genier Charity Mini Golf Tournament.
