When Francine Beth, President and Owner of Marge’s Lakeside Inn, was nominated as our July Featured Business of the Month, selecting her was a quick and unanimous decision. This honor celebrates both Fran’s impact and the lasting legacy of Marge’s.
Fran brings an incredible, dynamic energy to our chamber, and since taking ownership of “Rochester’s hidden gem on the lake,” she has continued to stay fully immersed in the local business community.
While Marge’s has earned national recognition from accredited publications like USA Today, it is also capturing the attention of a new generation of social media influencers. They are discovering our vintage watering hole and sharing with the world what locals already know—if you haven't been to Marge’s Lakeside Inn, you are truly missing out.

How many years has Marge’s been in business? 65 years
What type of business is Marge’s considered? Beach Bar/Tiki/Tavern
What made you choose to take on your business? Was born into it. Literally…. LOL
Tell us about being part of the Sea Breeze business community- what that means to you and how collaborating has been a part of your success strategy? We have a VERY unique situation in Sea Breeze among business owners. We all lean on each other to navigate the craziness and cheer each other on.
How many employees does your business employ? Approximately 20-25
What do you want potential customers to know about your business? That this was a speakeasy back in prohibition. It’s weathered many a-storm and with a lot of hard work, dedication and community support, we have grown into what we are today. Last year, we were listed by USA Today as one of the top bars in the country.
My Grandmother, Marge bought it in 1960 and my Father worked for her until he bought it from her in 1975. I think I started in the bottle chute when I was about 9 years old. My Father passed in 1986, which left my Mom, Fran and I to keep it going. She passed in 2023 and now my husband and I are staying the course as best we can.
Is there community service has your business been involved in or organizations do you support you would like to tell the community about? We have always supported surrounding businesses and anything we can to participate in helping the town of Irondequoit/Sea Breeze area thrive.
Our Note: We would like to add we are one of those organizations! Through our charity mini golf event she supports The Sunset House each year.
Are there any special events you are hosting you wish to tell our community about? We are open 7 days a week in the Summer! Limited hours the rest of the year.
